Should you get a tattoo in summer?
Questions about summer tattoos.
We get a lot of questions about getting tattooed in summer. Our answer is, every season has its pros and cons. We’ve listed a few!
Cons.
The main cons are no swimming and no direct sunlight with a fresh tattoo. You have to keep your tattoo out of the sun for the first two weeks and connot swim during this period either. We recommend planning your tattoo well before or after your vacation.
Pros.
The pro is that in summer we generally wear less clothing. This makes it easier for your new tattoo to breathe. When a tattoo has no coverage it also means less rubbing which hugely benefits healing.
It is also easier to wear appropriate clothing for some tattoo sessions, like shorts or open back pieces since it’s less cold.
Sun exposure.
But what about the sun? Since you can’t have a fresh tattoo exposed to the sun it’s good to cover it up. If it’s on your arms for example, why not tie a shawl around it? Or cut off a sleeve from a different shirt and use it as an ‘arm warmer’. After 2 to 3 weeks you can wear sunscreen.
All in all, you can get a tattoo in all seasons, you just need to take care of your new tattoo!
