How to find the right artist for you.

Hi!
We’d like to give you some tattoo advice on this blog and as the very first one, how to find the right artist for you!

Do research
See which styles you like and what artists work in that style.
Have you found an artist whose style fits what you like? That's great! There are a couple more things you can keep in mind.

If you’ve checked the work of artists you like it is normal that you do not like every single tattoo they did, as long as the majority falls into what you like, you are good!

Keep in mind that some artists have a waitlist, it is always good to check if their books are open and inquire about your tattoo a while before you want to plan your actual tattoo appointment

Do they have a clear work method?
Some artists will describe this on their social media or on their website.
If you can’t find it there is no harm in asking.
For example, is it clear to you when you will receive your sketch? Do they give you a price indication in advance? What is their cancellation policy?

Do they advise you?
There are limits to what is possible with tattooing. For example, if an artist thinks a tattoo won’t age well, do they explain why?

Do they listen to what you want?
You can always ask an artist in advance if they are open to changing stencil placements or changes to a design.

They understand consent.

If you want to check the artists of The Ink Society you can find their work here and on our Instagram.
